Who is responsible
The publisher of this site is the entity responsible. Identification details and a contact address are on the contact page. Write to the same address about anything to do with your information.
What information is handled
- Contact details. Whatever you send voluntarily by email: your address and whatever you write in the message.
- Browsing data. IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and where the visit came from, collected in aggregate through analytics cookies when you accept them.
- Server logs. Access logs generated by the hosting provider for security and for the site to work at all.
No sensitive information is requested or handled, and no information is collected from children: the site is for people aged 18 and over.
Why, and on what basis
- To answer your message: you provide the information for that purpose when you write, and it’s used for nothing else.
- To measure use of the site in aggregate: on the consent you give in the cookie notice, which you can withdraw.
- To keep the service secure and available: limited to what the technical operation of the site requires.
How long it is kept
Contact messages are kept while the exchange is live and for a year afterwards in case it needs picking up again, then deleted. Analytics data is kept in aggregate for the period the statistics provider applies, and server logs for as long as security requires.
Who else sees it
Information is never sold and never passed to third parties for commercial purposes. The only parties with access are the providers that make the site run — hosting, mail and the statistics package — acting on our instructions. Where one of those providers is located outside Australia, the disclosure is made under Australian Privacy Principle 8, with contractual arrangements requiring a standard of protection equivalent to the APPs.
Links to gambling operators lead to third-party sites with their own policies: from the moment you leave this site, what happens to your information is a matter between you and them.
Your rights
You can ask at any time for access to the personal information held about you and for its correction, and you can withdraw a consent without affecting what was lawful before you withdrew it. A message to the contact address saying what you want is enough. Access is free and we’ll respond within 30 days, as the Privacy Act requires.
If you think your information has been mishandled, raise it with us first — we have 30 days to respond — and if you’re not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which is the regulator.
